The great night of Shiva — observed with fasting, night-long jagarane and abhisheka to the Shiva Linga through the four yamas (quarters) of the night with bilva leaves.

- 1Collect fresh bilva (bilipatre) leaves — enough for the four yamas of abhisheka
- 2Buy milk, curd, honey, ghee, sugar and coconut water for the panchamrita abhisheka
- 3Keep a Shiva Linga, a copper kalasha and abhisheka vessels ready
- 4Arrange fruits and phalahara items in advance for the day-long fast
- 5Prepare for the night vigil (jagarane) — lamps, mats and 'Om Namah Shivaya' japa mala
- 6Book your purohith early for a home Rudrabhisheka on Feb 15
