When: Bhadrapada — Tritiya (Gowri) & Chaturthi (Ganesha)

Samagri you'll need

  • Gowri idol / gejje-vastra
  • Clay Ganesha idol
  • 21 patre (leaves), durva
  • Modaka/kadubu, fruits
  • Mantapa, flowers

Step by step

  1. 1

    Gowri sthapana & pooja

    Install Swarna Gowri, perform shodashopachara and tie the gauri-daara thread.

  2. 2

    Baagina

    Prepare and exchange baagina with sumangalis.

  3. 3

    Ganesha prana-pratishtha (next day)

    Install the clay Ganesha and invoke with prana-pratishtha.

    Patri pooja

    Worship with the 21 leaves and durva; offer modaka.

  5. 5

    Katha, aarti & visarjana

    Read the katha, do mangalarati; immerse on the chosen day.

Note: Gowri is welcomed as a daughter visiting home; Ganesha, her son, arrives the next day.
