- Tulasi, Vishnu/Krishna idol

Step by step

Dashami preparation
Eat a light sattvik meal on Dashami; avoid grains and beans from Ekadashi.

Vrat & Vishnu pooja
Fast (nirjala or phalahar), worship Vishnu with tulasi and read the Bhagavata.

Jagaran & naama-japa
Keep a night vigil with Vishnu-nama sankeertana and Vishnu Sahasranama.

Dwadashi paran
Break the fast on Dwadashi within the prescribed paran time, after feeding a Brahmana.
Note: Observed across all Vaishnava traditions, North and South; Madhwas keep it strictly.
